Peace of M.I.N.D is a Norwich Counselling Service co-founded by three experienced therapists - Debbie Maher, Heidi Moore and Gerry Curson In Norwich 2018.
We offer counselling and support services in the Norwich and Norfolk area to those who are in need of a confidential space to feel safe and listened to. Due the the current pandemic we have adjusted our service to accommodate those who may be out of our area and still wish to access counselling. We now provide Counselling online via ZOOM, Teams or Whats app video call/telephone call. We have a vast variety of skills and approaches between the three of us as a therapeutic team. We can offer counselling and support to both adults and families as well as individual counselling. Our skills include being able to connect and support you when you may be needing it most. Our Norwich Counselling service is set up to help you find ways to balance the difficulties life can bring in any form and find peace in your well-being and to Move In New Directions.
We are members of the National Counselling Society for both Counselling and Hypnotherapy, and bound by and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
Hello, I'm Debbie, I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a PGC in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I use an integrative approach to meet your individual hopes and needs. My approach includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) , Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy ( DDP) Person Centered , Therapeutic Life story , Psychodynamic and Creative interventions such as art, Sandtray or Clay.
Its important you know that amongst that I'm a friendly and kind person who is easy to chat to and I think can help you feel safe and able to tell me what's on your mind.
I have over 18 years experience of working with both adults and young people individually and in family settings. These settings have included working with adoption, fostering and Looked After Children. I am also a Therapeutic Foster Carer and have attachment based principles.
I am a firm believer that your troubles can be easier if you give yourself a chance to look at them. I became a counsellor because I know I can offer you a safe space to do this and that you can move forward and feel differently. My skills include are but not limited to children and young people / adults / anger / low mood / depression/ anxiety / self worth / relationship difficulties / loss / PTSD / parenting / phobias / well-being / feeling in crisis / change /mindfulness and relaxation. I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist. I am registered with the National Counselling Society.
I offer wellbeing staff support services to businesses and organisations. Specific packages can be inclusive of supervisions, group supervisions, consultations, wellbeing, training and much more. Please get in contact with any specific queries.
How long is a session, and how often should I see you?
We work flexible hours and will try to book you in when best fits for you. Sessions will last for 50 minutes, and you could see us as often as you like, from weekly, fortnightly and monthly.
How do I know if you're the right counsellor for me?
We offer a free initial telephone consultation and will work with you to establish your hopes and needs, and what will work best for you.
How much will it cost?
It depends on what package you decide, and we will agree this together in your initial assesment. As standard our counselling sessions are £45 per hour. However if you require Hypnotherapy or CBT these sessions may be more. We also require payment prior to the session.
What happens if I cancel a session?
We will need more than 24 hours notice to cancel a session otherwise the cost of the session will be charged.
Are you still doing face to face sessions during the current pandemic?
We now offer sessions via Zoom, Teams, Whatsapp video and skype.
